Wairarapa Arts Review

Aratoi Museum opened its 10th Wairarapa Art Review on 15th DECEMBER, 2017

It is a selected biennial exhibition open to artists living in the Wairarapa region and highlighting the variety and high standard of work being produced by artists in the region.

86 entries were received, and 57 works were selected by Mark Amery Art Writer and Critic.

Four awards were announced on the night:

 

Rosewood Premier Award ($2000) SAM LUDDENCumec Unit”

The Whole Nine Yards Highly Commended Award ($1000) : SAM DUCKOR-JONESCould it be true / that music from the oily racer scum across the street / is really the sound of a heart / finally pumping up in my ear” 

New Zealand Pacific Studio Emerging Artist Award (1-week residency) : AUDREY HALL “Theseus and the  Minotaur” 

Jane Hyder Portrait Award ($500) STEPHEN LAWRIE “P.R.” 

 

The Frank Minehan People’s Choice Award ($500) will be announced on 18 February 2018
